Who is SCASA?

Single
Origin Beans.

Single-origin coffee is coffee grown within a single known geographic origin. Sometimes, this is a single farm, or a specific collection of beans from a single country.

The most important thing about single origin is its traceability, you know exactly where it is from and that it’s specific, not a blend.

It’s basically your coffee roasters way of saying, “This coffee is pretty damn special and I want you to know about it.”

You can expect an excellent coffee when you see that label.

Arabica vs
Robusta.

The Arabica bean provides the strong flavor. The Robusta offers the froth and the caffeine.

The two commercially significant species of coffee beans are Arabica and Robusta beans.

Arabica beans grow best at altitudes over 2,500 feet.

This means longer time to mature.

This species produces superior quality coffees, which possess the greatest flavour and aromatic characteristics.

They typically contain half the caffeine of the Robusta beans.

Arabica production represents 80% of the world’s coffee trade, however, only 10% of this meets specialty coffee standards.

Medium, Medium-Dark or Dark Roast

Where the differences lie

Our Medium roast coffee has a balanced flavour with an increased body and more rounded aroma. Sourced from the Yirgacheffe region in Ethiopia this bean is considered to be one of the world’s finest.

Our Medium-dark roast coffee is more aromatic with more choclaty, caramel notes coupled with roasty attributes and fuller body – “Bright enough for breakfast and rich enough for dinner”. Sourced from Columbia throughout the many diverse regions the coffee varies mildly from region to region.

Roasted with just a trace of the coffee’s natural oils on the surface of the bean. Smooth and creamy with a robust body and deep, complex flavor. A terrific dark roast with no harsh edges.

Colombian Coffees are commonly known to be big, rich, chocolaty coffees with exceptional fragrance and often great acidity.

Colombia has many diverse growing regions, so the coffee varies mildly from region to region.
